Fishing on the River Spey can be booked. The River is the home of Spey casting, and is well known by the keen salmon fishers.

It is the third largest drainage area in Scotland, and is also the second longest river in Scotland after the river Tay.

Visitors’ Monday-Friday day tickets are sold on a first come, first served basis, with a maximum of 6 per day for £20 per day on the right bank of the Spey.

Alternatively, week tickets can be bought at J.A.J. Munro in Aberlour for £100. If tickets are pre-booked, they must be paid for in advance by either cash or cheque.

A Ghillie can be hired, for a fee, to show you the river. Again, contact J.A.J. Munro for details. He will be able to hire out the necessary equipment to you, from rod to waders.

If trout fishing is more to your interest then the Rothes Trout Fishery is only 15 minutes away, and offers half and full day tickets.
